Young Professionals Launch Quad Cities Image Building Campaign, #tagtheQC

(Quad Cities) – The Network: Young Professionals of the Quad Cities, a program of the Quad Cities Chamber, has launched a social media campaign called #tagtheQC to foster community pride and celebrate all that is cool, creative, and prosperous in the region.

“We’ve all seen the power social media has to spread a concept, and we’re harnessing some of that to build up community pride among residents,” says Aiden Landman, Director, The Network. “Regardless of what you’re passionate about, whether it’s music and the arts, social service, sports, or business, everyone can think of something they treasure within our community. That is what this campaign is all about.”

The entire Quad Cities community is encouraged to take part in the #tagtheQC campaign by taking a selfie in front of their favorite Quad Cities location, adding it to social media using #tagtheQC, and then challenging their friends to do the same.

How to #tagtheQC:

·         Go to your favorite place in the Quad Cities. For example, a park, restaurant, a concert, an art gallery, your office, or in the stands of a sporting event.

·         Take out your phone and take a selfie.

·         Navigate to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.

·         Post your picture with the hashtag #tagtheQC, tell us why you love the place you chose, and end by challenging 3-5 of your friends to do the same.

“This is truly a community effort,” says Landman. “The more people who participate, the more successful we will be in telling the world about the Quad Cities. We want everyone to snap selfies, get on social media, and challenge their friends to do the same.”

The campaign is explained through a video featuring local young professionals showcasing their favorite Quad Cities’ locations, produced by dphilms. The video can be found on YouTube at .

The social media campaign is one part of the recently-launched Quad Cities Regional Vision, which is the Quad Cities region is recognized globally in 2030 for growing and attracting talent and businesses, is energized by a culturally rich community, inspires innovation, and embraces lifelong learning. So far 150 local businesses, non-profits, and government organizations have endorsed this vision.
